How We Work Together

Simple terms for a community built on trust. We want to be clear about what you can expect from us and what we ask in return.

What We Promise You

  • 1.Honest content. Everything in Learn is grounded in published research. We cite our sources and distinguish between strong evidence and emerging findings.
  • 2.Objective evaluations. In Try, we evaluate services and approaches using the same criteria, whether they're free techniques or paid products. We don't accept payment for favorable reviews.
  • 3.A safe community. When the community launches, it will be a respectful space where everyone's journey is valued. We will actively moderate to keep it that way.
  • 4.Your data stays yours. See our Privacy page for the full picture. The short version: we collect very little and sell nothing.

Community Guidelines

When our community launches, these are the principles we'll build it around:

Be kind

Everyone here is working on something that takes courage. Treat others the way you'd want to be treated on your hardest day.

Share honestly

Your real experience, what worked, what didn't, what surprised you, is more valuable than polished advice. Honest stories help people.

Respect privacy

What people share in this community stays in this community. Don't share others' stories or identifiable information outside of BBO.

No selling

This is a space for people helping people, not for promoting products or services. We handle evaluations in Try; the community is for real experiences.

About Our Content

The content on this site is for educational purposes. It's based on published research, but it's not a substitute for professional medical or psychological advice. If you're struggling with anxiety or mental health challenges, please reach out to a qualified professional.

We do our best to be accurate, but science evolves. If we get something wrong, we'll correct it openly and note the change.

What You Share

When you post reviews, comments, or stories in the community, you keep ownership of your words. By posting, you give us permission to display your content on the site. You can delete your contributions at any time. We may remove content that violates our community guidelines.

The Necessary Legal Bits

We've tried to keep this page human, but a few things need to be said in more formal terms:

  • Be Better Offline is a social enterprise. All content and design on this site is our intellectual property, shared freely for personal use.
  • We provide this site and its content as-is. While we work hard to be accurate and helpful, we can't guarantee specific outcomes from any approach or technique discussed here.
  • We may update these terms as the site grows. We'll note changes here and email members about significant updates.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there.

Questions?

If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@bebetteroffline.org. We'd rather explain it than leave you guessing.
